To be a travel nurse you must obtain an RN degree. This takes about four years to complete at a hospital-based nursing school. Two years complete to obtain an associates degree in nursing and then two more for a bachelor's degree (BSN). You then need to pass the N-CLEX certification exam also known as the nursing boards.
